Not accidentally, September is a great month to have a birthday. First of all, it probably means your parents were feeling the warm glow of the holiday season, if you know what I mean. And a lot of that happened, because there are a ton of September and October birthdays out there! Big, harsh winters usually mean even more birthdays in those months.

In terms of weather, you get the best of summer and fall, and back to school is easy because you get to bring treats for the class. Or the office!

People born in September have a better chance of getting into difficult, prestigious colleges, as well. I guess this has more to do with school schedules and child development, but either way, September born folks tend to be ahead of the class. Also, September-borns have the most beautiful birthstone, the sapphire.

So it’s only natural that many of you, like me, have a lot of birthdays to celebrate in our inner circles. This month is also a gateway to the holiday season,  so it’s easy to slip and start eating everything in sight. (I’m talking to you, donuts!) I want my jeans to fit come October so I’ll be making some fab flatbread treats to show my September peeps some love.

First things first: we have some new ways to use flatbread, this time with a great (and easy) Tequila-Lime Bars recipe that will wow your adult friends. Grab some reposado and turn on the music!

If you have a little time, try these meringue filled treats, Gaznates made from lightly fried flatbread. Our recipe uses a bit of cream cheese for body, and lots of beautiful fruit. It will be the most delicious gift ever!

For the super healthy birthday girl (or boy) use flatbread to bake up our unbelievable Flatout Healthy Greek Yogurt Chocolate Pie. No one likes a party pooper who won’t eat their cake, and this one is made with zero guilt.

If sweet treats happen to be in the form of Margaritas, then host a flatbread pizza party. Our new favorites are the Calabacita Pizza A La Parrilla, the Honey Chipotle Grilled Chicken Pizza  and the Spanish Tapas Pizza. All of these can be made on the grill! (Oh yeah, September is also a perfect month to grill.)

This September, make it fun, just be sure to include all those friends and family with birthdays. Get creative, make some beautiful food, and celebrate!
